About FIFI

FIFI is a non-profit organization with a 501C3 status for the purpose of enhancing, facilitating, and supporting family and consumer involvement in the development of responsive, family centered, and community based systems of care. FIFI works in collaboration with state, federal, and private programs to develop a resource and training information center to enable individuals to advocate for appropriate services and make wise service choices. FIFI provides a vital link in the flow of information between families, consumers, and communities and policymakers to ensure that programs are responsive to the real needs of Florida's most vulnerable citizens. FIFI currently houses two Federal grant initiatives and several state and federal contracts. FIFI also contracts with a variety of local, state, and federal programs to enhance, monitor, and improve family and consumer involvement and family centeredness practices in service delivery and systems of care.

FIFI's focus is in four areas:

  1. Fostering Family Centered Systems of Care
FIFI advocates for a family centered, community based, culturally competent, comprehensive, and coordinated system of care.

  2. Strengthening Partnerships
FIFI strengthens partnerships and supports that enable families and their children and youth with special needs to be part of system design, service planning and delivery, and as members of service improvement teams.

  3. Creating Leaders
FIFI helps identify and encourage families to become leaders in helping shape services and support for individuals with special needs by providing ongoing training, technical assistance, and resources.

  4. Sharing Information
FIFI works with agencies and programs to build a base of information to assist families and individuals with special needs in making wise decisions concerning their needs and options.
